From Thursday, travelers at Schiphol can have themselves tested for the corona virus upon arrival. Schiphol and GGD Kennemerland will open the Covid-19 test street at the airport, announced by the cabinet, in arrival hall 3. GGD Kennemerland will take care of the tests and administration. Schiphol provides signage to the test street, so that arriving travelers know where to find them.

measure not waterproof

Yet reporter Yteke de Jong does not think the measure is watertight. The aviation sector indicates that this is much too late and has already called for a test street in July. After much talk, it will be opened on a voluntary basis on Thursday. Schiphol will point out to arriving travelers that they can go to arrival hall 3 if they wish to undergo a corona test.

“You may wonder what the effectiveness of this is. It's voluntary, so it's sort of a service to the traveler. If you don't feel like it and you don't feel well, you can pack your suitcase and walk home, ”says Yteke de Jong, aviation reporter of the Telegraaf.

test everyone on arrival

When you do it right away at Schiphol, you just know that after the test, when things are wrong, you have to go to quarantine immediately, so not go to work. So there is a lot to it. Yteke wonders who will voluntarily submit to it. The airlines have said that they do not need a test street, but a motorway. They would prefer that everyone will be tested. According to De Jong, the test street is another half-hearted policy of the cabinet.
