As of today, the corona testing capacity in the test center at Zurich Airport (Switzerland) will be expanded, the airport reports on their website. This is done by Ender Diagnostics, PCR test they offer are performed with saliva samples instead of nasal swabs. The advantage of this PCR test is that this method is much more comfortable than the nasal swabs. Also, this saliva sample PCR test has the advantage that the results arrive faster, about within five hours instead of twenty-four to forty-eight hours. These tests are sold in the airport test center as self-test kits for around 180 euros. Everyone has to do this test themselves in a test booth and there is therefore no intervention of medical personnel, the test booths are thoroughly cleaned after use.

The used PCR tests are taken by a special courier to the Swiss Analysis AG laboratory in Tägerwilen four times a day. The customer will receive the results of the PCR test by email within approximately five hours. Tests that are done after 17 pm will not be processed until the next morning. Customers can visit the test center every day from 6 am to 20 pm, without an appointment. The test center is located at check-in 2 on the airport. The saliva PCR tests are for passengers who do not have corona symptoms and need the test in order to travel or attend an event.
