Parcel service DPD is investing heavily in CO2 and particulate matter reduction and will therefore be using 100 electric buses this year. This is in line with DPD's sustainability ambition to deliver CO2025-neutral deliveries in the 30 largest Dutch cities by 2. The first electric buses are now running in Amsterdam and Haarlem. The cities of Eindhoven, Breda, Groningen and Maastricht will also follow this year.

DPD has been delivering CO2012 neutral since 2. The use of these electric buses is the next step in which DPD will further reduce CO2 emissions, with the aim of covering 2025 routes sustainably by 400. The climate agreement requires the inner cities of the 2025 largest cities to be supplied emission-free and particulate matter-free by 30. However, DPD is taking this a step further and will not only deliver the city center, but the entire 30 cities in a sustainable way. To realize the step to emission-free delivery, DPD has concluded an agreement with Volkswagen (E-Crafter), Mercedes (E-Sprinter) and Renault (E-Master).

Zero emission cities by 30
The 30 cities where DPD will deliver emission-free in 2025 are as follows: Almere, Alphen aan den Rijn, Amersfoort, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Breda, Delft, Dordrecht, The Hague, Ede, Eindhoven, Emmen, Enschede, Groningen, Haarlem, Hoofddorp , Leeuwarden, Leiden, Maastricht, Naaldwijk, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, 's-Hertogenbosch, Tilburg, Utrecht, Venlo, Zaandam, Zoetermeer and Zwolle.

50five Group
In order to reinforce the sustainability ambition, DPD has also entered into a partnership with 50five, a partner for the realization of the electrical infrastructure and charging stations. Today, DPD is opening one of the largest charging plazas in the Netherlands with them, where at least 70 electric buses can ultimately be charged.

Eric Dietz, CEO DPD Netherlands: “Under the motto“ we all share the same address ”
We are very passionate about making our fleet more sustainable and expanding it with electric buses. The fleet already consisted of Tripls (e-scooter) and bicycles, which we use in Rotterdam and Eindhoven. We were already CO2 neutral, now we are aiming to make our process structurally sustainable, not only in the Netherlands but throughout Europe. ”

Manfred Klumpenaar, COO 50five Group: “50five is proud to support DPD in their transition to an emission-free future. In the partnership with 50Five, DPD has opted for an extensive mobility solution, such as a configuration with AC, DC chargers and a fault and maintenance service. Together, a targeted next step in the realization of their sustainability goals ”.

DPDgroup will further reduce CO2 emissions by delivering 2025 electric vehicles to 225 European cities by 7.700. In addition, DPD International is deploying 3600 charging points and 80 new city depots. DPDgroup has set itself the goal of reducing CO2025 emissions per parcel by another 2% by 30. DPDgroup is investing 2025 million euros until 200 to contribute to a better quality of life in 225 cities in Europe. DPD reports this on their website.
