The VVD achieved a big victory in the parliamentary elections. With this result, Mark Rutte can become the longest-serving prime minister ever. The second party in the Netherlands is D66 and was the big surprise in the previous parliamentary elections. Sigrid Kaag went dancing up the table at the exit poll. At the same time, Kaag also sees the need for cooperation, also with the VVD of outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte, who has also made a profit.

D66

The candidates on the D66 list come from all four corners of the world, and even the overseas parts of our kingdom. Accessibility and sustainability are paramount when investing in mobility. D66 wants public transport in the urban environment to be more attractive than the car. The party wants to invest in a faster public transport connection to the north and south of the Netherlands and our eastern neighbors. D66 believes that the chances of hydrogen must be developed further and more specifically as an energy carrier. For various forms of mobility, D66 wants a hydrogen filling station within a radius of every 100 km. The party also stimulates the major innovations that are expected with cleaner, self-driving transport. They offer travelers more transport and transfer options, for example by bicycle, electric scooters or (shared) cars. This requires major investments, but these are necessary, also for cleaner air.

VVD

VVD wants more competition in public transport. It is indispensable, especially in busy areas such as the Randstad. VVD wants more transfer points where all kinds of transport come together. This way you can easily switch from the train to, for example, a shared car. You plan, book and pay for the entire trip in advance via an app. In non-urban areas, the largest party in the Netherlands wants to make public transport more customer-friendly. The demand of the traveler must be central and not the offer of the carrier. Empty buses are a waste of money and the environment. The party also wants more competition in public transport. Public tenders provide travelers with more and better public transport.

De positions we read from the VVD that as a gateway to Western Europe, Schiphol is crucial to our economy. The hub function certainly attracts various companies to our country. That is the reason for the support package for KLM in the corona crisis. A KLM bankruptcy would have dramatic consequences for Schiphol.
