Despite the fact that April 2020 meant 45% fewer bookings for Click&Boat compared to the same month in 2019, the “Airbnb of the sea” has managed to maintain its success. Click&Boat ended 2020 with a 30% increase in the number of bookings by Dutch users. An unprecedented growth that continued in the first months of 2021 and which promises to bring many more Dutch people to the water next summer. Click&Boat offers 40.000 boats for rent in more than 60 countries, of which the Netherlands has the seventh largest fleet. Such a wide range of boats responds to the trend of local tourism.

"A holiday on a boat perfectly meets people's increased need for freedom, nature and safety. Travelers can discover many different destinations during their sailing trip, away from the crowds. In addition, the level of hygiene on board is very high, in accordance with with the new standards”.

Most Popular Local and International Destinations

In the first quarter of 2021, the bookings made by Dutch Click&Boat users tripled compared to last year. More than half of the bookings concerned local destinations, such as the provinces of Friesland and Noord-Holland. As a result, the availability limited to some domestic destinations for the coming summer months. Click&Boat is therefore already promoting the possibility of sailing close to home in September.

As for abroad, travelers are increasingly looking for boats in countries that are gradually reopening their borders, such as Spain, Croatia and France. Among the most popular destinations are Dalmatia, where sailing with a sailboat or catamaran is very popular, and Andalusia, where motorboats for a day trip are very popular. Since a boat trip is much more than sailing itself, both experienced and inexperienced guests can rent a boat, with or without a skipper.
