Car seats that are suitable for children from infant age to about twelve years and therefore 'grow' with the child, lag behind in quality. This is apparent from the ANWB car seat test. Of the four tested car seats in this category, three score moderately in the test. Only the Jané Groowy + Nest i-Size achieved a pass. Normally, two or three different seats are used for children up to the age of 12.

In the development of such car seats, compromises are made, which have a negative effect on their safety and use. This leads to poorer results in crash tests, difficult installation in the car due to the high weight of the seat and a greater risk of misuse due to the different mounting methods required.

The ANWB advises to choose car seats that are better suited to the age of the child. Almost all tested seats score 'satisfactory' to 'good'. Only the Osann Oreo 360 II came out badly in the test. The seat contains too high a concentration of the plasticizer DPHP, a substance that can affect the thyroid and pituitary glands and pose a health risk. This seat is the successor to the Osann Oreo 360° tested in the spring, which failed the test for the same reason.

A test team from the ANWB examined and assessed 24 different models. All seats have been tested for safety, use, ergonomics and the presence of harmful substances. The vast majority score 'satisfactory' to 'good' with three or four stars. Three seats scored 'moderate' with two stars and one seat received a lower score because of the high concentration of harmful substances found and therefore scores 'poor' with one star.

The ANWB test car seats every year since 2003, so that parents can form an idea of their quality. Regular testing leads to better quality. Several seats that failed the test in recent years have been improved by the manufacturer or taken out of production, according to the ANWB.
