A fatal bus accident occurred on the E19 near Sint-Job-In-t-Goor in the direction of Breda on Sunday afternoon. Federal police were quick to report that at least two had been killed. It concerns a French coach from BlaBlaBus that overturned and ended up on its side. The Flemish Traffic Center reported around noon that a serious accident had happened on the E19, near Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor, a sub-municipality of Brecht, northeast of Antwerp.

"It took excruciatingly slow for the emergency services to get there."

According to witnesses, the bus ran into a concrete crash barrier on the right side of the road and then flipped over. When the bus slid across the road, several people ended up under it and were seriously injured or killed. Several people were also trapped under the bus. It was striking that the road users present took their responsibility and immediately formed a rescue lane. Given the commentary on what was there when the rule was announced, according to a Twitter user, it goes exemplary and the rescue strip proves its usefulness.

contingency plan

The municipality of Schoten had meanwhile announced the municipal phase of the disaster plan. The accident happened on Schoten territory, so the municipality coordinated its handling. The emergency plan must ensure that the emergency services can be called in as efficiently as possible.

Because the highway was completely blocked in the direction of Breda, the Traffic Center asked to avoid the area around Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor. All entrances and exits and various parallel roads in the area were closed. Anyone wishing to drive to the Netherlands was asked to do so via the A12, via Bergen-op-Zoom.
