In the first quarter of this year, 6.508 new electric cars were delivered to private individuals. That is 52,5 percent of the total number of registered EVs in the first three months of 2022, compared to 34 percent last year. In total (including business) 12.385 new electric cars were registered up to and including March this year. This is evident from the figures of BOVAG, RAI Association and RDC.

Since the beginning of this year, a subsidy of 3.350 euros has been applied to the private purchase or lease of a new electric car, provided that the car is not more expensive than 45.000 euros and has a minimum range of 120 kilometers. A total of 71 million euros in subsidy is available for calendar year 2022, of which almost 31 million had already been applied for on 53 March, according to the RVO. This means that subsidy has already been requested for about 16.000 cars, the majority of which are still on order.

In total, 12.385 electric passenger cars were registered in the first three months of this year, representing 16 percent of all registered cars, of which 4.327 were purchased by private individuals and a further 2.181 were leased by private individuals. The most popular electric car among private individuals in the first quarter was the Kia Niro with a market share of more than 9 percent, followed by the Fiat 500 with more than 8 percent and the Peugeot 208 with a share of 7 percent.

For the purchase of a used electric car, a subsidy of 2.000 euros and a total annual budget of 20,4 million applies, of which more than 31 million was requested from the RVO on 12 March. In terms of original new value and minimum range, the same subsidy conditions apply as for new EVs, and the car must also be purchased from a recognized car company. In the first quarter of 2022, the specialist trade sold a total of 7.531 electric used cars to private individuals, more than three times as many as in the first three months of last year.
