By smart phasing, traffic in two directions on the national highway is always possible.

In Eindhoven Northwest, a lot of work is underway to improve traffic flow and accessibility to Brainport Eindhoven and Eindhoven Airport, among others. The first weekend closure from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May has so far been without too much inconvenience for motorists. During that weekend, the A2 Eindhoven ring road between the Batadorp junction and the De Hogt junction will remain closed in both directions. Various measures have been taken to limit the nuisance as much as possible, with all traffic having to drive on the N2 in both directions

activities

There are weekend closures from Friday 29 April to Monday 2 May and from Friday 6 May to Monday 9 May. The municipality of Eindhoven is working on a new tunnel under the highways near the A2 and N2. For example, the Anthony Fokkerweg, Eindhoven Airport, Flight Forum and Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) must be made more accessible. Before that happens, the work will first cause a lot of delay. To limit the nuisance, the N2 will remain available during these weekend closures, which can require 30 minutes extra travel time for motorists.

"If we can continue the collaboration like this until the opening, I think it has been successful."

Hendrik-Jan Vennix, project leader of the municipality of Eindhoven, is not ready for his test piece. The construction team, the collaboration of the municipality of Eindhoven and Strukton Civiel, worked in the construction team phase on the preparatory activitiessuch as working out the design. This phase ran from November 2020 to mid-November 2021. The work outside will start in 2022 and will be completed by 2023 at the latest. In the summer of 2022, the A2/N2 will be temporarily partially closed for the construction of the underpass.

work smart

By smart phasing, traffic in two directions on the national highway is always possible. One of the solutions to keep the nuisance to a minimum is to build the tunnel sections in advance and then drive them into their final location under the A2022/N2 in a short period during the summer holiday period of 2.

The tunnel sections will be installed in the summer of 2022. As a result, fewer lanes will be available for traffic on the A28/N22 Eindhoven ring road between the Batadorp junction and the Leenderheide junction in both directions from 2 July to 2 August. This causes serious hindrance to through traffic. Road users must then take into account an additional 60 minutes of travel time.
