Increasingly, there is no justifiable cause for fire hazards when driving electrically.

It is not the first time that one of the buildings where Picnic's electric cars are located has caught fire. It is the third incident in more than eight months.

In Rotterdam-Ommoord, a fire raged today in a distribution center of delivery service Picnic. Three electric delivery vehicles went up in flames. Picnic founder Michiel Muller says that the exact cause of the fires is being sought together with the supplier.

De brand in a Picnic 'delivery hub' in Rotterdam ended happily. The sprinkler system extinguished the fire, limiting the damage to blackened cars after the damage.

there is danger lurking

Last year a shed with electric batteries from Felyx in Capelle burned down completely. Every now and then a burning electric car makes the news and we have to ask ourselves whether there is danger lurking with the advance of electrically powered vehicles. Above all, don't worry.

There have been car fires ever since the car has existed. Research by the ANWB has established that although an electric car does not have a combustion engine, it does have a lot of electronics and batteries on board.

During charging and intensive use of those batteries, they also produce quite a bit of heat. Just think of your cell phone when it's in the charger or when you're watching a video, it can get quite warm. That is not a problem in principle, the technology is designed to withstand these high temperatures.
