The electric partial scooter has the necessary advantages for Amsterdam. This makes it a good alternative to the car. If more people use the partial scooters, there is not only less car traffic in the city, but we also need fewer parking places. In addition, the partial scooter can be used very well for the first or last kilometers of a journey that you make largely by public transport. For example if you want to go home from a station or P + R and it is too far to walk. And of course, the electric scooter is emission-free and thus contributes to our climate goals.

The permit is for 2 years with the possibility of a one-year extension. Amsterdam uses this period to find out more about how electric partial scooters and other means of transport contribute to the accessibility and liveability of the city. Yet there is also protest against the arrival of the scooters.

“I am against these 'partial scooters', which are simply rental scooters from a commercial company. This is at the expense of public space and causes street pollution. And I do not believe that this car use decreases, think that the use is mainly at the expense of the bicycle. In addition, if you need a scooter as a supplement to your public transport, then your public transport network is simply not good enough (insufficiently fine-meshed / frequent). ”Says one of the reactions.
