Even though Schiphol has suffered greatly from the consequences of the corona pandemic, they remain active to improve their service. Since Wednesday, Schiphol Amsterdam has been proactively offering travelers who have a short transfer the option to transfer more quickly. In this way, travelers with a short transfer time can pass the queues at checkpoints more quickly. At Schiphol Amsterdam, new self-service units have been installed at two new piers, where most of the transfer users arrive.

At these units travelers can scan their boarding pass themselves and if these travelers have a short transfer time, the 'Short Connection Pass' is printed. With the Short Connection Pass, travelers with a short transfer time do not have to wait in line for security and passport control. Once arrived at the security and passport control, the traveler with the clearly recognizable Short Connection Pass can show it to the staff, the staff will then refer this traveler to a special Lane.

'People are gradually willing and able to travel again. Some of the travelers have a transfer of less than one hour and pass security and passport control. This new service has been introduced to make it easier to make the short switch and to speed it up. Even with fewer travelers, we will continue to work on improving our service, 'says Miriam Hoekstra-van der Deen, Director Airport Operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Schiphol Airport Amsterdam actively offers this service so that more and more travelers will make use of this option. This saves a lot of stress and hassle for travelers in the queues at security and passport control. It also offers advantages for Schiphol Amsterdam, as employees can recognize and help these travelers more quickly. This reduces the risk of departure flight delays due to transferring travelers.
