The cabinet will decide by 25 May at the latest whether secondary education in the Netherlands will be fully reopened, according to outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte. The Outbreak Management Team is asked for advice when the 1,5 meter rule can be released in secondary schools. The cabinet would like to see secondary school students return to full school before the summer holidays, but the OMT warns against relaxing secondary education too early, as this could lead to major problems in health care. Until, the cabinet foresees problems in the north of the country by postponing longer because only a few school days will be left for the summer holidays.

"Whether or not to relax does not depend on one percent more or less. If the direction is right, but not even 20 percent, then we dare to take the step."

vacation abroad

The Dutch may be able to go on holiday abroad again. From 15 May, travel advice will again be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for individual countries. This was announced at a press conference on Tuesday evening by outgoing corona minister Hugo de Jonge. Nevertheless, the cabinet warns to be well informed before booking. The Dutch are not welcome guests given the high contamination percentage. In many countries, the Netherlands is on the list of countries that are not welcome. De Jonge expects that Dutch tourists will be able to go on holiday again this summer to countries such as France, Italy and Spain.

easing

The relaxations that will take effect from 19 May mean, among other things, that sex workers are allowed to work and that terraces can be opened from 6 am to 20 pm. In step three of the opening plan it is possible to eat inside again in the catering industry under certain conditions, people are allowed to re-enter the museums and the advice for the maximum number of visitors at home is increased from two to four per day. Groups of thirty people would also be allowed to come together within again, if there is room, and the rules for indoor and outdoor sports will be further relaxed.
