The ANVR is furious at Schiphol and the government about the continuing lack of clarity about the continued vacation of hundreds of thousands of Dutch people. Due to the failing personnel policy of Schiphol, there is a risk that already booked holidays from that airport will be canceled in the coming summer. There are also people who still have to book behind the net. Travel companies, meanwhile, are inundated with questions from customers about whether or not their vacation will go ahead.

"It is completely unacceptable that Schiphol does not have its personnel policy in order, and that the holiday of many Dutch holidaymakers is in danger of falling into the water," says Frank Oostdam, chairman of the ANVR. “But the constant uncertainty that Schiphol leaves behind about the solution of the problems also leads to a boom in questions from customers that ANVR companies are not yet able to answer. The damage caused by cancellations and missed bookings will be enormous and we will certainly recover from the perpetrator”.

No clarity yet about continuing holidays
“It has not yet been announced which passengers cannot go on holiday on which flights. It is also not clear how many people are involved! As soon as this is known to the airlines, our customers will be informed as soon as possible. Until then it really makes no sense to contact them ANVRtravel company and customers are requested not to do this either,” says Oostdam. “We would like to emphasize that the cancellations only affect a part of the customers. Millions of other customers may have to take longer waiting times at the airport into account, but they can still go on holiday.”

Staff from the travel industry would like to help
Oostdam says: “We call on Schiphol and the Dutch government to take responsibility and solve the problem as quickly as possible. As travel companies, we like to think along. We are now investigating the possibility of having staff from ANVR travel companies cooperate at the airport this summer. If Schiphol is open to this, we think we can quickly second hundreds of employees for the busiest moments. These are committed employees who have worked hard in recent months to book the most beautiful trips for their customers and who now want to help prevent these trips from being canceled after all."
